Former tennis legend Sania Mirza shared her own picture on Instagram first time after confirming her divorce with Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik to the public.
In the picture, Sania is seen looking at herself as she stands in front of the mirror and wrote, “Reflect”.
Despite speculations, Sania and her family members were tight-lipped about the divorce until Malik posted a few pictures from his wedding with Pakistani actress Sana Jawed. Sania’s father later made the public announcement about their divorce.
Sania’s team released a statement on Instagram confirming that the duo had been separated “for a few months” and urged fans and followers to maintain privacy.
“Sania has always kept her personal life away from the public eye. However, today the need has arisen for her to share that Shoaib and she have been divorced for a few months now. She wishes Shoaib well for his new journey ahead! At this sensitive period of her life, we would like to request all fans and well-wishers to refrain from indulging in any speculation and to respect her need for privacy,” the statement read.
Sania and Shoaib got married in 2010 and had their first baby boy together, named Izhaan Mirza Malik, in 2018. The duo celebrated their son’s fifth birthday last year in Dubai.
Sania also greeted the countrymen and shared a picture of Republic Day today on her Instagram handle.
